Project Mjolnir - Introduction

Welcome to the first post on Knightsofray and Project Mjolnir!

The first franchise that I will be doing a deep dive into is Halo. I will be going through the games, books, and movies in order of release date. This is a big project that will take some time to complete but I am excited to get started.

I was 11 years old when Halo: Combat Evolved was first released on the original Xbox. While I never owned an Xbox, I had several friends that did and we spent countless days and weekends playing Halo multiplayer via multiple Tvs and system link. Our group of friends continued to play Halo throughout high school and college and I am sure that we will still get together on Xbox Series X in 2021 when Halo: Infinite is finally released.

While multiplayer is what got me started with the Halo franchise it was the excellent storytelling and vast lore that keeps me interested in the franchise to this day. Halo doesn't get a lot of credit for its expanded universe but it really should. Many of the stories that have been told in the games and novels are right up there in concept with other popular "high science fiction" series such as James S.A. Corey's Expanse series and Orson Scott Card's Ender's novels.

This series will consist of approximately 40 parts and I am aiming for 2-4 posts a month.

First up will be the novel The Fall of Reach, the first official piece of Halo canon that released just a couple of weeks before the first game in Fall of 2001.
